Flip It!I have worked with a contractor on "Flipping" a few properties. My responsibilites included rough & finish carpentry, tile installation, hardware restoration, and bitchin' and whining at the laborers to mainting quality control. Oh they loved me. We opened up the back porch, built a deck and gated entry, opened up and re-framed the kitchen dining room area. You can see pictures of this completed project at 2464lyric.com Less traditional projects. At this Lake Hollywood residence, I hung 4"x 6"
lumber from the ceiling to create the illusion of a vaulted
ceiling. I snapped chalklines to lay out the design and cut the plaster so the lumber could be bolted to the ceiling joists. A polished concrete floor with lime stains. GobosCustom Studio Gobos are designed with several things in mind- aesthetics, functionality, effectiveness, cost, and durability. We offer several options in addition to our standard models that allow you to design a set of gobos that fit the exact needs of your studio. Home project studios and large live rooms alike will benefit from our gobos, which control unwanted mic bleed and allow rooms the necessary division for tracking. We have designed this basic model after consulting with engineers, studio managers, musicians, studio designers, and other industry professionals. We are ourselves a craftsmen/drummer and an engineer/studio designer. We have done extensive testing of materials and design to ensure that our product is durable, attractive and able to accomplish a variety of recording studio tasks. These gobos will dampen the loudest drummer or add life to the softest acoustic guitar. |
In the beginning...To my patrons delights, I have been repairing, restoring, and rebuilding for nearly ten years. Although it was not a path a perceived I was destined for, my undeniable ability to work with my hands proved to be a viable means. As a doe-eyed, gawky BFA graduate, I moved to New York to play artist. I soon realized that I had no real marketable skills and acted rather instinctually in order to avoid imminent starvation as the cliche ordained. I began to make stuff for money. Cutting wood, maybe painting it or staining it too. I began learning about carpentry from the best in the world- the local 4 scene shop in Long Island City. Before long, I was recruited for a prestegious restoration project that would end up lasting over ayear and a half. This would prove to be the spring board of my residential remodeling career. The Duke-Semans House, on 83rd and Fifth Avenue is a landmark building that was built in the early nineteen hundreds in that typical understated French Victorian style. The remaining few years I spent in New York, I continued rehabilitating aging urban tenements, into the townhouses of their dreams. read more on the Duke-Semans House

Venetian Plaster Venetian Plaster is an elegant wall finish that will create the look of Italian marble in your home. The technique involves applying layers of tinted fine particle plaster and then petting it endlessly. The layering application will achieve subtle tone variations that when polished, create the smoothness, depth and cool feel of marble. The plaster may be protected and sealed with different types of sealers that create there own supple effects. A hand rubbed wax topcoat is a popular finish that adds richness and depth to the plaster while making the surface silky smooth. A pearlescent topcoat will create iridescence in the finish like mother of pearl. Colors can be matched or custom mixed to complement your design. |

This West Hollywood townhouse required that big chuncks of hanging plaster and flaking paint be replaced with materials that were more permanent. I also opened up the walls to the dining room and kitchen to create a more open plan. ![]() |
